Club Health Check: Promoting Preventive Healthcare for Rotaractors and Their Families
Club Health Check is established to promote preventive healthcare, wellness, and healthy living among its members, their families, and the wider community. Recognizing that effective service begins with healthy volunteers, the project provides access to essential health services while encouraging a culture of disease prevention and proactive healthcare.
As part of its continuing commitment to member welfare, Club Health Check 2.0 featured a Free Pneumococcal Vaccine Day, providing eligible Rotaract members and their family members with free pneumococcal vaccinations. Pneumococcal disease remains a significant public health concern, particularly among older adults and individuals with weakened immune systems. By promoting vaccination, the initiative helps reduce the risk of serious illnesses such as pneumonia, meningitis, and bloodstream infections while reinforcing the importance of immunization as one of the most effective forms of preventive healthcare.
The activity was made possible through the collaboration of dedicated healthcare professionals and community partners. The Rotaract Club of Tacloban was honored by the presence of District Rotaract Representative Jacob Erm Jericho Dolino, RN, PHF, who actively participated in administering the vaccines alongside the medical team. The club also extends its sincere appreciation to Mrs. Rhodora Pongos of Tacloban City Hospital for her invaluable support and assistance in making the vaccination program successful.
Beyond providing free immunization, Club Health Check aims to educate members on the value of regular health screenings, vaccinations, and preventive medical care. By encouraging Rotaractors to prioritize their own health, the initiative ensures that members remain physically prepared to continue serving their communities effectively and sustainably.
Through Club Health Check, the Rotaract Club of Tacloban reinforces its belief that healthy communities begin with healthy individuals. By investing in preventive healthcare and promoting wellness among volunteers and their families, the project strengthens not only the health of its members but also the club's capacity to create meaningful and lasting impact through service. As the initiative continues to grow, it remains committed to building stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities—one health intervention at a time.
