TYPE KITA (Mass Blood Letting)

TYPE KITA: Mass Blood Donation Drive is one of the flagship humanitarian initiatives of the Rotaract Club of Tacloban, dedicated to promoting voluntary blood donation and helping ensure a stable blood supply for hospitals and patients in need. Guided by the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self, the project encourages individuals to make a meaningful difference through a simple yet life-saving act—donating blood. 


Blood remains an essential resource in medical emergencies and everyday healthcare, supporting accident victims, patients undergoing surgeries, mothers experiencing childbirth complications, children battling serious illnesses, and individuals with chronic medical conditions. Recognizing the constant need for safe and adequate blood reserves, the Rotaract Club of Tacloban launched TYPE KITA to raise awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation while inspiring more people to become regular donors. 



The initiative was made possible through the collaboration of dedicated partners, including Metro Mall Tacloban, the Department of Health – Eastern Visayas, Eastern Visayas Medical Center, Tacloban City Hospital, and the National Voluntary Blood Services Program. Their collective efforts ensured a safe, organized, and accessible blood donation activity where community members could contribute to saving lives. 



Beyond increasing the local blood supply, TYPE KITA fostered a spirit of compassion, volunteerism, and community solidarity. Donors, volunteers, healthcare professionals, and partner organizations came together with a shared purpose—to provide hope and a second chance at life for patients who depend on blood transfusions. Every successful donation represented an opportunity to save multiple lives and demonstrated how small acts of kindness can create extraordinary impact. Through TYPE KITA, the Rotaract Club of Tacloban continues to champion health and humanitarian service while strengthening partnerships that benefit the wider community. 



The project serves as a reminder that heroism does not always require grand gestures; sometimes, it begins with a single donation. By encouraging a culture of regular voluntary blood donation, TYPE KITA continues to inspire individuals to give not only blood, but also hope, healing, and the priceless gift of life.
