Urostorya Sessions: Empowering Communities Through Awareness and Protection

Urostorya Sessions focused on promoting child protection, human rights, and gender-based awareness through education and community dialogue. The project provides safe and inclusive spaces where young people, parents, and community members can learn about pressing social issues, equipping them with the knowledge to recognize, prevent, and respond to various forms of abuse and exploitation.


Through partnerships with government agencies, local government units, non-government organizations, and youth organizations, Urostorya Sessions bring experts and advocates together to discuss issues that directly affect vulnerable sectors of society. The initiative aims to empower participants with accurate information while fostering a culture of vigilance, respect, and collective responsibility for protecting children and promoting safe communities.


One of its significant activities, Urostorya Session 16, was conducted in partnership with SK Barangay 74 Lower Nulatula and Plan International Pilipinas. The forum focused on critical issues including Trafficking in Persons (TIP), Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC), and Child, Early, and Forced Marriages and Unions (CEFMU). Through engaging discussions led by resource speakers and subject matter experts, participants gained a deeper understanding of the realities of these issues, their legal implications, warning signs, and the importance of reporting and community intervention.

Beyond raising awareness, this project encourages participants to become advocates for child protection and human rights within their own families, schools, and communities. The initiative emphasizes that preventing exploitation requires collective action, informed decision-making, and the active participation of every member of society.


The Rotaract Club of Tacloban continues its commitment to empowering communities through education and advocacy. By creating opportunities for meaningful conversations on sensitive but important issues, the project helps build safer, more informed, and more resilient communities where the rights, dignity, and well-being of every child and individual are protected. As the initiative continues to grow, it remains dedicated to inspiring awareness, encouraging action, and fostering a future free from exploitation and abuse.
