Project K-wento at Tigbao Central School

Project K-Wento is one of the flagship education and literacy initiatives of the Rotaract Club of Tacloban, dedicated to nurturing a love for reading, learning, and creativity among young learners. Built on the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to dream, imagine, and discover their potential, the project uses storytelling and reading activities to foster literacy while encouraging confidence, curiosity, and self-expression.

Recognizing that reading is a foundation for lifelong learning, Project K-Wento creates engaging and interactive spaces where children can develop not only their reading comprehension but also their critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills. Through storytelling sessions, book-sharing activities, and meaningful interactions with volunteers, the initiative transforms reading into an enjoyable and inspiring experience that motivates children to become lifelong learners.

As part of its continuing literacy campaign, Project K-Wento reached Tigbao Central School for its second implementation, bringing stories to life for young learners through engaging reading sessions and educational activities. More than simply reading books aloud, Rotaractors encouraged pupils to participate, ask questions, share their own ideas, and imagine new possibilities beyond the pages they explored. Every story became an opportunity to inspire hope, build confidence, and remind children that their own dreams and experiences matter.

The success of the project was made possible through the collaboration of the Department of Education – Tacloban City Division, fellow Rotaract Clubs, and local and international partners who share a common vision of improving literacy and expanding educational opportunities for children. Their support strengthened the initiative and enabled the club to reach more learners who can benefit from quality reading experiences.

Through Project K-Wento, the Rotaract Club of Tacloban continues its commitment to advancing education as a powerful tool for personal and community development. By promoting literacy, creativity, and a lifelong love for learning, the project helps shape future generations of confident, curious, and empowered young people. Every story shared, every page turned, and every smile inspired reflects the club's belief that education has the power to transform lives and that today's readers become tomorrow's leaders.
