Project K-Wento at Bless Elementary School

Project K-Wento is the flagship literacy and youth development initiative of the Rotaract Club of Tacloban, created to inspire a love for reading while empowering children to dream, learn, and grow. Anchored on the belief that literacy is the foundation of opportunity, the project provides young learners with meaningful reading experiences that nurture imagination, creativity, confidence, and lifelong learning.

Launched in partnership with the Department of Education – Tacloban City Division, Project K-Wento officially began on September 19, 2025, at Bliss Elementary School, Barangay 74 Lower Nula-Tula, Tacloban City. The initiative marked the beginning of a long-term commitment to promoting literacy among elementary pupils by creating engaging spaces where stories become powerful tools for education, inspiration, and character development.

More than a traditional reading program, Project K-Wento encourages interactive storytelling and active participation, allowing children to explore ideas, express themselves, and discover the value of reading beyond the classroom. Through books, storytelling sessions, and volunteer engagement, the project seeks to develop not only literacy skills but also critical thinking, communication, empathy, and self-confidence. Every story shared serves as an opportunity to encourage children to believe in their own potential and imagine brighter possibilities for their future.

The success of Project K-Wento is made possible through the strong collaboration of the Department of Education – Tacloban City Division and the unwavering support of partner Rotaract Clubs from across the Philippines and abroad. This collective effort reflects the shared commitment of volunteers and partners to investing in the education and development of the next generation.

As one of the Rotaract Club of Tacloban's flagship projects, Project K-Wento continues to expand its reach to more schools and communities, bringing the joy of reading to children who can benefit most from accessible literacy programs. Through every book read, every story told, and every child inspired, the project reaffirms the club's commitment to shaping brighter futures through education. By turning stories into opportunities for learning and growth, Project K-Wento demonstrates that even the simplest act of reading can spark curiosity, build confidence, and empower young minds to become future leaders and changemakers.
